Understanding DLL Repair

So what is a DLL Anyway?

Dll stands for dynamic link library in Microsoft Windows’ systems. It is a shared mini library of code or data that performs a specific task that can be utilized by a variety of different programs.

Dealing with DLL Errors is easy!

Dll errors are some of the most common problems you will encounter with your PC. “Couldn’t find example.exe” is often the description of a dll error and it usually means that an important system file was deleted somehow. Unfortunately, due to the shared nature of dll files, you can be seeing the same error within multiple programs. There are a couple of steps you can take to repair these errors on your own.

  1. Check the web and see if you can find the missing .dll. Alternatively, search for a .dll installation program. Often you can supply the missing .dll yourself.

  2. Reinstall the program that has the error message to hopefully restore the missing or corrupt dll file.

  3. While you’re reinstalling programs, try reinstalling any program you may have deleted recently in case that one was responsible for deleting the dll file.

  4. If you can, print out a copy of the error message and do an online search for that particular message. You can then download and reinstall the correct dll.

  5. If your PC is running Windows ME or XP, you can use the System Restore function to return to a date in functionality before the errors started occurring.
