Last Ditch Fix for Outlook Express

What do you do when Outlook Express just won't work right?

E-mails have become an increasingly important part of our lives. It is difficult to imagine life without e-mails. For this reason, people tend to be very sensitive about their e-mail service, and if anything goes wrong with their Internet connection or e-mail software, then panic is bound to follow.

If your copy of Outlook Express starts to behave in an erratic manner, there is no need to call in reinforcements. Instead all you need to do is to follow a simple set of procedures that should help you to at least diagnose and understand the problem…if not repair it.

  1. The first stage is to log out of Outlook Express, and log back in. If the problem still exists, then log back out of OE and also out of any other programs that you have running. Don't forget to save any work in progress!
  2. The next step is to switch off your computer and then restart it. You will be amazed how many problems this simple procedure solves, and not just with Outlook Express. You may have accumulated a number of glitches caused by files that have not been closed properly and that have then damaged your system's temporary state.
  3. If restarting your computer does not bring your Outlook Express back to health, the next stage is uninstall and reinstall it. This may sound radical but should solve the problem. Before doing so, you should save address books and stored e-mails to your hard disc. They can always be re-imported once your Outlook Express has been re-installed.
