You have a great printer but it is suddenly displaying the words “Error 11,” “Error 12,” or “Error 13.” So you figure it’s shot, you blew your money, why does it happen to you, wonder where I can take this boat anchor to get it fixed?
Relax. These are simple notifications that your printer is trying to tell you something needs your attention. None of these errors is major; it’s just your printer wanting some personal attention.
Essential Error Messages In terms of Printers
Error 11. Guess what; your printer is out of paper, that’s all. All you have to do is get the right size of printer (or copy) paper and reload the tray or feed into the rollers and put on the little sprockets. Just make sure it’s aligned right according to the little pictures or indicators and then shut it up.
Error 12. This one just means that you have left the printer open or you forgot to put a cartridge in it. Make sure that all of the paper trays and the printer doors are closed and you should hear your printer cycling up.
Error 13. Now to the one that everyone loves–you have a paper jam. This is probably the most common error code you will get. It simply means that the paper didn’t spit out like it was expected to, it got waylaid. Unless you can open the printer and see the paper jam, you may have to actually look at your printer manual. It will tell you exactly what to do and it will even have little pictures to help you–and they actually do help.
Error 16. This one means that you’re getting low on toner, so it’s time to order some more, or if you already have a backup (you do, don’t you?) you can just pop it in and get under way.
