Installing and Updating the Flash ActiveX Player
Installing and Updating the Flash ActiveX Player
Developed by Microsoft, ActiveX allows you to use certain application in a web browser that you normally would not see online. For example, with an updated version of ActiveX, you can use online forms of Excel and Word, but if you’re hoping to use the rich media available through ActiveX, you’re going to need to keep your ActiveX Flash Player updated and installed correctly.
Install ActiveX Flash Player in Explorer
ActiveX was designed by Microsoft to link various programs to the internet, so you shouldn’t have much trouble downloading ActiveX Flash Player in Microsoft’s Explorer. There are two easy ways to download the ActiveX Flash Player onto your machine. The first is to visit a site that requires Flash Player, like Youtube, and try to watch a video. The videos won’t play correctly and you’ll be instructed to download ActiveX Flash Player in order to use the site correctly. Simply follow the instructions on the screen to download the program and install it. The installation process should be just a matter of minutes before you’re ready to use the program.
A more direct method of obtaining ActiveX Flash Player is to download it directly from the Adobe website. Visit this page of the Adobe website to see all of the available ActiveX downloads. On the page, you’ll see a list of updates for various operating systems as well as downloads for the latest version of Flash.
If you’re running a Mac or a Linux-based computer, you can click directly on the downloads for those machines, but if you’re running a Windows-based computer, your best choice is probably to click on the Get the latest version download icon in the upper right corner of the page.

Once you click on the latest version link, you’ll be taken to a download page. Simply click on the large Download now icon in bright yellow to begin the download.

The download begins automatically, and you’ll be prompted to agree to Run or Save the download. Select Save and Run by picking the drop arrow on the installation bar that pops up. This will download the update to your Downloads folder and then automatically begin the updating process. The full update should take only a few minutes.
Install ActiveX Flash Player in Firefox or Chrome
In Firefox or Chrome, you can download the ActiveX Flash Player plug-in in a very similar way. While working in Firefox or Chrome, visit a website like Youtube and watch a movie. You’ll likely be prompted to download the Active X Flash Player before the video will run. If so, simply save the update to your computer when prompted and follow the instructions on the screen to finalize the update process. This should take only a matter of minutes. If you’d rather take the direct route for the Flash Player plug-in in Firefox or the Chrome extension, simply visit this page of Adobe’s site to get started.
Open a new window or tab in your current internet browser to open the Adobe download page. Click on the Get the latest version button on the top right corner of the page to begin the download.

Once selected, you’ll be taken to a download page. Simply click on the yellow Download now button to begin the download process.
Your download begins automatically. You’ll be prompted to Save File.
Simply click on this button and the download will begin. When it is complete, it will either run automatically to update your machine or you’ll be able to start the program from the Download menu on your computer. Once you’ve run the plug-in or extension, your Flash Player will be updated correctly.
