For the average computer user, the only time a Java error is seen is on the Internet and it relates to how the web page has loaded into your computer. If you get a specific error message or code, the best thing to do is go straight to the source: visit http://www.java.com/en/ and search for the specific solution.

Otherwise, the best way to assess a Java Error is to do some quick fixes that pertain to how your Browser is working.

Restart your Browser

Sometimes for unknown reasons the browser does not open properly, which causes problems when viewing web pages. Simply close the browser and reopen it. This sometimes clears the browser enough to work properly again.

Clear the Cache

Every browser has what's called a cache. This is a place that stores temporary settings pertaining to your current browsing sessions. Java errors can sometimes manifest due to a conflict in these settings. Clearing the temporary Internet files is the best way to clear these settings and hopefully stop whatever it is that causing the Java Error.

  1. Go to the Internet Preferences in whatever browser you're running.

  2. Select the General tab

  3. Select the settings button under Temporary Internet Files

  4. Select the delete files button

  5. Select all the check boxes on the Delete temporary files page

  6. Click OK to close page

Delete Your Browser History

If you are viewing the internet in Internet Explorer, follow these steps to clear your browser history.

  • Open Internet Explorer and open the tools menu in the upper right hand corner

  • Select options at the bottom of the drop down menu

  • Opens a new window, be sure to be on the general page

  • Select the delete button in the browser history section

  • Opens another window

  • Select options to delete cookies, history, and temporary files.

  • Click OK and wait for the delete process to complete.

  • Click OK on the options page to close it.

  • Restart Internet Explorer.

If you are using Mozilla Firefox:

  • Select Tools Menu

  • Select Options

  • Select Privacy tab

  • Under History, select the clear now or clear button.

    Reinstall JAVA

Reinstall Java

If push comes to shove, you can always re-install Java. Java is a program that exits in your computer, but it is integrated with your Browser. Going to its hope page: http://www.java.com will give you access to the free download which you can install easily. It's a good idea to uninstall the previous version though, before you overlay the new one.
