If you have received Java Script errors during your Internet surfing time, you realize how frustrating they can be when you are trying to view web pages. Java Script errors are caused by a problem with the Java Script embedded in the web page you are viewing when the error is received. The Java Script error message usually appears with a yellow triangle for Internet Explorer or a red exclamation point for Firefox included with an error and debug message in a pop-up dialog box (see below).

The good news is that JavaScript bugs are fairly simple to fix. Since running JavaScript is a critical part of your web surfing enjoyment, you’ll want to fix JavaScript errors so that you can fully interact with websites and get the most out of your experience. JavaScript or other scripting errors interfere with your ability to view the content on some websites without interruption.

Resolving Java Script Errors

The following steps will allow you to resolve Java Script errors on your system. Make sure Java is enabled in your web browser. This can be done easily in both Internet Explorer and Firefox by following these steps:

Internet Explorer

  1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools.

  2. Select Internet Options.

  3. Click the tab labeled Security.

  4. Select Custom Level.

  5. A Security Settings dialog box will appear.

  6. Go to Scripting of Java applets.

  7. Click Enable.

  8. Click OK.

Firefox

  1. Click Edit.

  2. Go to Preferences.

  3. The Preferences dialog box will open.

  4. Click Advanced.

  5. Select Scripts and Plugins.

  6. Check the Navigator checkbox.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Close other open programs to see if one of those programs is causing a conflict with the scripts running. If the problem occurs with the use of a certain program, you may need to update the latest version of that program in order for it to interface with Java and not generate errors. You can check for updates to your software by visiting the manufacturer web site.

  9. If possible, test the site generating the Java Script error from another computer to see if the problem is with your system or the web page. If more than one computer receives the same error it may be a problem with the site programming. View other sites and see if additional Java Script errors occur.

  10. Test your computer for the latest version of Java and install any required updates for free from Java here. Downloading the latest, correct version of Java for your Operating System can resolve many errors.

  11. If you are still receiving the Java Script error, download the latest version of scripting engine for your Operating System from Microsoft from the Microsoft Download Center.

  12. If the solutions above do not work, then you may have a problem in your system files or registry. A registry cleaner program will scan your computer for errors and repair them.

The steps above should resolve your JavaScript errors to allow you to have a more pleasant and uninterrupted web surfing experience.
