Your computer is a treasure trove of information about you and your lifestyle. More terrifying than that, it can be a hotbed of information about your children and they are far more likely to invite strangers into your online or computer-based lives. From identity theft to the sharing of private photos, there is a lot to fear from others who can access your files. And if you’re not already actively working to keep them out, now is the perfect time to get started. You certainly don’t want to wait any longer!

Clear Your Internet History

Your computer does an excellent job of recording all of the websites you’ve visited, and if you have some password and login information stored, a quick drop down menu in your internet browser can lead a thief right to your financial information.

If it’s there for the taking, it’s hard to imagine someone without scruples out there isn’t going to try and take it. Less severe, but even more embarrassing, your internet searches might reveal some rather interesting searches you’ve made to your children who use the computer after you. Make it a habit to clear your history and avoid any potentially embarrassing faux pas.

Clear Your Internet History in Internet Explorer

•    Close your Internet Explorer browsers before you open Control Panel.
•    Click on Internet Options.
•    Under General click on Clear History.
•    Click on Yes and OK to finish the process.

Below we will answer these questions and give you a clear understanding of the Microsoft Update process.

What are the differences between Windows Updates, Microsoft updates and Automatic Updates?

Windows Updates are designed specifically for the Windows Operating System installed on your computer.  Microsoft Update enlarges the scope of the download and to include updates for other Microsoft based programs, such as Microsoft Office and Windows Live.

An Automatic Update is generally set-up on your system if it is newer. This feature provides you with the ability to let your PC automatically download and install updates. While using the Automatic Update feature is easy and convenient, you do not have the ability to choose which updates are going to be installed. If you do not want to make selections however, setting the Automatic Update is the best way to keep your PC current with the best patches and updates available.

When you consider the endless onslaught of potential threats to your computer, it makes sense to protect it in every way you can. One of the most obvious ways to protect your computer isn’t as glamorous as a giant firewall or expensive security suite, however – you need to simply download Microsoft updates for your computer.

Microsoft Updates Deter Hackers

The code that created Microsoft is immense, and hackers seek for problems or holes in the code as their entry way into your computer. Once in, they can steal information and wreak havoc.
