Twitter is one of the most popular social information networks available to users today. Millions of people log on every day to “tweet” and to follow fellow “tweeters” in their daily adventures. People, businesses, and organizations everywhere are connecting via 140 character messages.

In the spirit of convenience and mobility, Twitter has made itself accessible directly through browsers. In other words, you don’t need to log on to Twitter’s web site every time you want to tell your followers how many chicken nuggets you just ate or how long you waited in the dentist chair.

Now tweeters can utilize free add-ons, extensions, and tools to enhance their online Twitter experience without the inconvenience of logging in to twitter.com every time.

Internet Explorer Add-On

TweetIE, is Internet Explorer’s plugin for Twitter users. It appears as a toolbar in your browser window that will let you write your own text or select text from the web site you’re on and post it instantly.

You can download TweetIE for free from their website. Just click on Download and follow the instructions. If the toolbar doesn’t appear the next time you open Internet Explorer:

1) Go to View

2) Click on Toolbars

3) Select “CloudBerry Twitter plugin”

Firefox Add-On

Cloudberry also makes a plugin for Firefox called TweetFox. Have something you want to tweet? Just click on the Twitter icon in your toolbar and share selected text or your own writing.

Download TweetFox from Cloudberry’s website by clicking on the download button. When you restart your browser for the first time you will have to enter your Titter username and password.

Firefox also has Twitterbar, an extension that allows users to tweet from their URL bar. Twitterbar users can just type their message in the address bar and instead of hitting enter, click on the green button, or type “—post”, and the text in your address bar is instantly tweeted to your account!

Opera Add-On

Twitter Opera Widget is Opera’s contribution to faster tweeting. A menu at the top of the box gives you access to all your tweeting needs. Opera users can download the widget from the widgets menu.

Apps for iPhones and other mobile devices are making it even easier and more convenient for everyone to stay connected. Tweeters unite!
